The Very Reverend Father Philippe Charles, PhD

Provincial Superior of the Community in Haiti

Reverend Father Philippe Charles, Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and University Professor in the United States, is a leading figure within the Community of Saint Francis of Assisi of the Third Order Regular (T.O.R.). A man of faith, science, and service, he has for many years dedicated his intellectual, human, and spiritual gifts to the service of the Church and the education of others.

Co-founder of the Community of Saint Francis of Assisi of the T.O.R. alongside the late Rev. Fr. Amogène Charles, he has been involved from the very beginning in the vision, building, and development of this religious work dedicated to evangelization, the formation of vocations, and service to the most underprivileged.

Following the passing of Rev. Fr. Amogène Charles, Rev. Fr. Philippe Charles generously answered the call of Providence by taking on the responsibility of leading the community. In a spirit of sacrifice and fidelity to the mission entrusted to him, he chose to step down from his university teaching career in the United States to fully devote his time, experience, and ministry to the development of the Community of Saint Francis of Assisi of the T.O.R.

Under his leadership, the community continues its commitment to promoting a religious life rooted in prayer, fidelity to the Gospel, the integral formation of its religious members, and service to the Church. His leadership—nourished by solid academic training and a deep spiritual life—serves as a source of inspiration and hope for all members of the community, as well as for the many faithful who benefit from his guidance.

Through his dedication, sense of service, and unwavering commitment to the work founded with Rev. Fr. Amogène Charles, Rev. Fr. Philippe Charles embodies the continuity of this mission, striving to guide the Community of Saint Francis of Assisi of the T.O.R. toward an ever more fruitful future in the service of God, the Church, and the Haitian people.
